Frequently Asked Questions
What is involved in getting a safe deposit box?
You must be an active account holder with Centinel Bank of Taos.
When you obtain a safe deposit box, a lease is signed identifying those people who may have access to the box. At the time you sign your lease you are given two keys, and a $100.00 key deposit is collected. We have a master key which is required along with one of your keys to open the box. Only the people designated in your lease agreement are allowed access to the box. Access to safe deposit boxes is available during our standard lobby hours, view our lobby business hours.
What if I lose my key?
If you lose one of your keys, the lock must be replaced with a new lock and keys. If both keys are lost, the box must be drilled and the lock replaced. The key replacement fee is $100 and the box drilling fee is $350.00
Is the key deposit refundable?
The $100.00 key deposit is refunded when the box is closed and both keys are returned to the Bank.
Are the contents of my safe deposit box insured?
Centinel Bank of Taos is unable to provide insurance on what you store in your safe deposit box, as the contents are confidential and known only to you. If this is a concern, please contact your insurance agent to arrange coverage. In addition, please be aware that contents held in a safe deposit box are not insured by the FDIC.
